Services Maritimes Desgagnés Inc. (SMD) manages the ship repair division, whose main facilities are located in Quebec. This team, made up of workers specialized in various fields (welding, engineering, electrodynamics, etc.), has established its reputation over the years, which has been further strengthened with the successful rescue of two ships flying a foreign flag, the M /T Rio Orinoco, grounded off Anticosti Island, and the M/V Alcor, grounded off Île d’Orléans.
The Electrotechnician reports hierarchically and functionally to the Director of Operations of Transport Desgagnés inc. Requests for support or services from the Electrotechnician are processed by the Maintenance department, which determines the latter’s assignments with the authorization of the Director of Operations of Transport Desgagnés inc. Once assigned to a task, he then works under the authority of the Superintendent of Ships concerned. The Electrotechnician carries out various technical troubleshooting work (“troubleshooting”), repair and maintenance, both electrical and electronic, on ships and on shore installations.
