Job description

The HR advisor – seagoing personnel reports to the Vice-Presidency – Human Resources of GDI. He supports the latter in the development and implementation of HR strategies and internal communications necessary for the success of the business objectives of the corporation and its business units. Its mission is to ensure that the “seagoing personnel” component of the corporation operates in accordance with the various corporate HR management processes, from attraction to recruitment, including skills development, training and of course performance, retention and succession.

 

In collaboration with the VP HR, he oversees the implementation, application and control of all human resources management policies and programs affecting flight personnel as well as compliance with the various collective agreements for DMC, DMP and DMSL. He also works in collaboration with the HR manager of RNI for the same responsibilities.

 

In support of the VP HR, he is particularly involved in the PGPHVLT for seagoing personnel. He acts as an internal investigator and reports directly to the VP HR. He works in close collaboration with the GDI HR team on various corporate projects or OHS, training, fairness and other projects for seagoing personnel.

 

In close collaboration with the GDI HR team, he ensures the communication and dissemination of HR policies and advises or supports managers in the application of these. Also, he may be called upon to collaborate with the Superintendents – Ships, the Superintendent – Navigation and the managers concerned from other business units of the company.

Required Skills

Technical skills and job requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in HRM or administration, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in the field of maritime transport and HRM
  • Perfectly bilingual (spoken and written)
  • Knowledge and mastery of MS Office software
  • Passionate person with good judgment
  • Person with the ability to respond quickly – sense of urgency
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in a federally regulated company is an asset
  • Member of the Order of CRHA (asset)
