Job description

Desgagnés Logistik Inc., a subsidiary of Groupe Desgagnés, specializes in stevedoring and terminal operations in Valleyfield. Offering innovative and competitive handling services, it plays a key role in the development of the port and the community by ensuring efficient and secure logistics operations.

As part of our activities, we are looking for a mechanic.

Your mission

As a mechanic, you will play a key role in the smooth running of our operations. Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and reliability of our rolling stock, essential to our logistics mission.

You’ll work with a committed team to ensure that every machine is ready to support the critical operations of our port terminal. Your practicality, autonomy and attention to detail will make all the difference.

What we offer

You want a job as a mechanic where you get hands-on with heavy-duty equipment?

At Desgagnés Logistik Inc., we offer you the chance to do what you love: repair, diagnose, maintain heavy machinery, and above all, be the key person who keeps operations running.

Your mission, if you accept it, will be to ensure that our rolling stock is always ready for action. You’ll team up with the workshop manager and get hands-on with mechanical priorities. Your work will have a direct impact on the success of our logistics operations. Every day will be different, and every problem a new challenge.

If you like to get things moving and have a sense of responsibility, you’ll thrive here!

What we offer: A well-equipped garage. A variety of machines, not just brake pads to change. A proud, close-knit team in the field that knows we do better together. A solid, 100% Quebec employer with a full slate of projects and a reputation that stands the test of time. Concrete challenges, autonomy and real recognition for your know-how. Here, we work in a structured, safe environment where your expertise really counts.

What we’re looking for

Someone who’s resourceful, self-reliant, rigorous, and knows their hydraulic and electrical systems inside out.

If you’ve got your DEP in mechanics, a good background in heavy machinery, and you’re the kind of person who does things the right way, we want to talk to you.

Are you organized, working in a team, knowing how to handle emergencies without losing your cool? That’s exactly what we value here.

Specifically, the mechanic’s main responsibilities are to:

        • Efficiently manage repairs to ensure maximum machinery reliability
        • Work closely with the workshop manager to ensure that rolling stock is always in good working order
        • Perform complete maintenance on machines and rolling stock
        • Repair company and customer rolling stock as required
        • Carry out technical inspections and undertake any necessary repairs or refurbishments
        • Clean machine components and apply required lubricants
        • Solve problems reported to the garage in collaboration with the team
        • Ensure preventive maintenance of rolling stock
        • Maintain accurate equipment repair records and pass on information to the mechanical workshop manager

Working conditions

        • Permanent seasonal position, daytime (March to December)
        • 40-hour week, Monday to Friday
        • Paid overtime
        • Comprehensive group insurance program (including dental insurance)
        • Registered Retirement Savings Plan (with employer contribution)
        • Employee assistance program and telemedicine
        • Annual vacation
        • Floating vacations, sick leave and public holidays

Required Skills

        • DEP in mechanics
        • Minimum 3 years’ experience in automotive mechanics and heavy machinery
        • Excellent knowledge of hydraulic and electrical machines and systems
        • Work with precision, accuracy, professionalism and thoroughness
        • Be organized and structured
        • Use discretion and courtesy when dealing with customers
        • Ability to follow procedures
        • Ability to use various tools
        • Autonomy and problem-solving skills
