Your mission:

 

At the heart of Tessier Limited’s operations, the mechanical engineer actively contributes to the management and realization of “turnkey” lifting projects, often outside the norm, in the marine and industrial sectors throughout Quebec.

 

Action-driven, rigorous and solution-focused mindset, he combines technical skills, practicality and team spirit to deliver “exceptional” projects that meet the company’s standards of excellence. His commitment, transparency and ability to manage priorities actively contribute to the performance and sustainable growth of Tessier Limited.

 

Specifically, the mechanical engineer’s main responsibilities will include:

 

Inspection and certification

 

        • Carry out in-depth inspections of cranes and lifting equipment, including the necessary certifications in accordance with current standards
        • Ensure annual renewal of special permits for road transport (heavy-duty trucks and cranes)

 

Technical support

 

        • Produce drawings and calculations for specific lifting operations according to customer requirements
        • Design (strength calculations, preparation of shop drawings) lifting accessories and crane parts. Monitor manufacturing and quality control of parts and accessories.
        • Collaborate with the mechanical department to monitor, control and certify critical repairs to lifting equipment (structural and mechanical)
        • Purchase ropes, slings and lifting accessories

 

Documentation and communication

 

        • Prepare inspection reports and certificates of conformity in due form and manage engineering documentation.
        • Ensure that manuals, procedures and technical instructions are clear, precise, up-to-date and well understood by assemblers and operators.

 

Operations management

 

        • Conduct site visits with customers prior to lifting operations
        • Determine lifting solutions for complex projects, in collaboration with the operations team, under the supervision of the coordinator
        • Ensure that lifting, assembly/disassembly operations on site involving a team of crane operators, truck drivers and riggers comply with the lifting plan, and ensure its conformity

 

Working conditions

 

        • Permanent position, daytime shift
        • 5 hours per week, from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Required Skills

        • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and member in good standing of a professional order (OIQ); position open to CPI.
        • Experience on construction sites, with heavy machinery and lifting or heavy transport operations
        • Knowledge of technical calculations for lifting and assembly
        • Knowledge of lifting standards and non-standard road transport
        • Good knowledge and command of the Microsoft Office suite
        • Fluency in both spoken and written French and English is required
        • Compliance with applicable standards and regulations
        • Excellent collaboration skills and teamwork
        • Autonomy, rigor and good judgment
