More specifically, the navigation coordinator’s main responsibilities are to:

 

        • Technical analysis of trips and risks to ensure regulatory and operational compliance
        • Commercial file management from customer request to trip completion
        • Regular communication with internal and external stakeholders to develop strong relationships
        • In-depth knowledge of charter parties prior to execution of trips and contracts
        • Preparation of loading plans to maximize cargo and reduce contamination risks
        • Monitoring of trips and charter parties to identify risks, opportunities and necessary adjustments
        • Approval of fuel supplies and travel orders
        • Monitoring of shipping schedules to optimize cargoes, times and modes of operation
        • Participation in STS operations and monitoring of loading and unloading activities
        • Rotate as first responder to monitor marine operations
        • Preparation and transmission of cargo instructions and declarations
        • Management of demurrage and out-of-service claims
        • Participation in the preparation of reports and recommendations
        • Follow-up of events/incidents and development of corrective actions
        • Application and monitoring of ISO standards, procedures and administrative policies
        • Collaboration in the development of additional procedures to ensure accuracy of transactions and operations
        • Implement and monitor a management approach focused on reducing operational risks
        • Perform other tasks as required by company priorities

Required Skills

        • College diploma in navigation or transportation logistics or a combination of any college-level training relevant to the maritime field and significant experience related to the duties of the position
        • Three years’ experience in managing shipping operations
        • Experience as seagoing personnel on a tanker is an asset
        • Demonstrate excellent relationship management and communication skills with ship, terminal and other stakeholders
        • Experience in the maritime field in general, i.e. operations, vessels, stevedoring, commercial operations and charter parties
        • Bilingual French/English, spoken and written
        • Knowledge and mastery of MS Office software
        • Available and mobile
